Deputies wants help finding Cahokia suspect in attempted murder

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help in locating a man police want to question about an attempted murder.

Larry D. "Lil Larry" Perkins, 25, of 15 Laura Lee Drive in unincorporated Cahokia, was being sought in connection with the shooting Monday of a 33-year-old man in the chest. A deputy also was threatened with a gun.

Perkins is described as being about 5-foot-4 and weighing 140 pounds. He was last seen running from officers near the corner of Judith and Amelia Drive near Cahokia around 1 a.m. Monday.

Belleville man arrested after police find him on roof of St. Clair County Jail

A Belleville man was arrested Tuesday after police found him on the roof of the St. Clair County Jail around 6:35 a.m.

William S. Glover, 48, of 1012 S. Charles St., Apt. B, was asked by sheriff's deputies what he was doing on the roof and told police he was fixing a skylight and sealing some pipes on the roof of the jail.

He told police he worked for Geissler Roofing, but the truck in the parking lot had no identifying company markings on it so police ran a check on Glover, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department police report.

The check returned a felony warrant for Glover's arrest for a parole violation. He was on parole for a 2007 conviction of domestic battery in Mascoutah and the violation of an order of protection. Both convictions were not the first time Glover had been convicted of domestic battery and violating orders of protection, according to court records.

A representative from Geissler Roofing later arrived at the St. Clair County Jail to retrieve Glover's tools and truck after his arrest.
