Woman and her passenger arrested on outstanding warrants after she attempts to elude officer

A woman with a suspended drivers license decided to speed up to get away from a St. Clair County sheriff's deputy instead of stopping when he attempted to pull her over for speeding near Marissa.

Sara J. Williams, 30, of 412 Jeramiah, Willisville, was driving northbound on Illinois 4 near Marissa at 10:47 p.m. Monday when she passed the patrol car driven by Deputy Ken McHughes.

McHughes clocked her with the radar gun going almost 20 mph faster than the posted limit of 55 mph and attempted to pull her over.

Instead of pulling over, the car sped up and made it's way down Illinois 4 to turn on to Schickendanz Road, where the driver pulled into a driveway at 11515 Schickendanz Road. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and headed towards the house with McHughes following her.

Missouri jail escapee captured in Swansea; accomplice still at large

One of two federal defendants who escaped from an eastern Missouri jail is back in custody after being captured in Swansea.

KSDK-TV reports that John Wesley Jones spent two days on the run before being recaptured Wednesday morning.

Details of his capture were not immediately known.

Jones and Corey Durand Cross bolted Monday from the Lincoln County lockup northwest of St. Louis in Troy by climbing to the jail's roof before scaling down a 30-foot wall.

Cross remains at large.

Federal investigators had named Jones a suspect in the potentially multimillion-dollar August heist of an ATM-servicing business in St. Louis.

At the time of their escape, Jones and Cross had been jailed without bond on weapons charges. Cross also faces drug charges.

On December 8, 2009, five suspects conspired to commit a residential robbery in a
gate-guarded, private community located in Newport Coast. Shortly after committing the violent takeover robbery, three of the five suspects were taken into custody by the Newport Beach Police Department. The follow up investigation led to the identity of suspects Ronnie Morrissette and Darrin Mucker. Newport Beach Police Detectives were able to secure $1 million dollar arrest warrants for their arrests. Both suspects were considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police find St. Clair County Jail inmate in Dallas; other inmate charged with aiding his escape

Police have found a St. Clair County Jail inmate who was mistakenly released in Texas on Wednesday.

St. Clair County Sheriff Mearl Justus said at about 5 p.m. Wednesday that the Dallas Police Department have in custody Elijah Muhammad, a 60-year-old St. Louis man who was mistakenly released Monday after he donned another inmate's shirt and posted bond using the man's name.

Muhammad was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Dallas, Justus said.
